The Kano State Police
Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with various crimes committed
across the state.
Public Relations Officer of the
Police Command, SP Magaji Majia, told journalists that six vehicles and N1.7
million were recovered from them.
Majia, a Superintendent of
Police, explained that the development followed the launch of a special
operation targeting various criminal hideouts across the 44 Local Government
Areas of the state.
During the process, the police
nabbed the gang leader, Yahaya Alhassan and two others linked to the six stolen
motor vehicles.
According to him, various
weapons were also recovered in the course of the arrest.
Also, a suspected member of the
Shiites sect in Kano State, Abba Usman, was arrested for conspiring with a
dismissed police officer who promised to enlist him (Abba) into the Force.
Upon interrogation, the police
spokesman stated that Abba was meant to pay N150,000 for the promised offer
while two other suspects were arrested for raping a housewife.
Majia stated further that the
suspects would be charged to the court upon the conclusion of the police
investigation.
