Eight suspected members of a group allegedly responsible for
kidnapping and armed robbery operations were on Thursday arrested by the
Ogun State Police Command.


Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu while parading the
suspects at the Headquarters of the Police Command in Abeokuta, the
state capital said they were arrested through technical
intelligence-driven investigation by men of the Federal Special
Anti-Robbery (FSARS) squad in the state.
According to him, the eight members were allegedly responsible for
many kidnapping and armed robbery operations in the south-west region.
Items recovered from the suspects include cars, one Ak-47, one pump
action gun with 25 round of ammunition,15 live ammunition and two
locally made pistols.
The police boss then assured residents of the state of the Command’s commitment to securing their lives and properties.
He also announced the commencement of the second phase of the arms and ammunition mop up in the state.
